General Moving Questions

1.

How far in advance should I book my move?

arrow-up

We recommend booking your move at least 2-4 weeks in advance, especially during our peak season (May through September) and at the end of the month when demand is highest. For long-distance moves or moves requiring specialized services like piano moving or white glove service, booking 4-6 weeks ahead ensures we can dedicate the right crew and equipment to your move. However, we understand that sometimes moves come up unexpectedly – we do our best to accommodate last-minute requests whenever possible. Give us a call at (401) 739-7788, and we’ll work with your timeline to make it happen.

Services and Capabilities

1.

What areas do you serve?

arrow-up

Our primary service area includes all of Rhode Island – Warwick, Providence, Cranston, Newport, Cumberland, Pawtucket, East Providence, Woonsocket, and all surrounding communities. We also regularly serve neighboring areas in Massachusetts and Connecticut. For long-distance moves, we provide professional moving services throughout the entire United States as fully licensed interstate movers. We’ve successfully relocated Rhode Island families to Florida, California, Texas, North Carolina, and everywhere in between. Some of our most common long-distance routes include Rhode Island to Florida, Rhode Island to North Carolina, and Rhode Island to Texas. If you’re moving to or from a location and aren’t sure if we serve that area, just ask – we can likely accommodate your move or connect you with trusted partners in our network.

Moving Day and Logistics

1.

What should I do to prepare for moving day?

arrow-up

Proper preparation ensures a smooth, efficient move. Before moving day: Pack personal essentials (medications, important documents, valuables, items you’ll need immediately) separately to keep with you. Empty and clean refrigerators/freezers at least 24 hours before moving. Disconnect and prepare appliances for moving (or arrange for a qualified technician). Remove items from attics, basements, and crawl spaces to accessible areas if you want them moved. Secure parking for our truck – obtain permits if your municipality requires them. Arrange elevator reservations if you’re in an apartment building. Clear pathways from rooms to the truck, removing obstacles. Have a final walkthrough plan to ensure nothing is forgotten. On moving day: Be present or have an authorized representative available. Have payment ready (cash, certified check, or credit card). Conduct a final walkthrough after loading to verify nothing was left behind. Keep children and pets in a safe area away from the moving activity. Point out any items requiring special care or handling. With proper preparation, your moving day will proceed smoothly and efficiently.

Costs and Payment

1.

Do you charge extra for stairs, elevators, or long carries?

arrow-up

Yes, additional charges may apply for access conditions that require extra time, labor, or equipment beyond standard ground-floor moves.  Long carries – when parking exceeds 75 feet from your door – may incur additional charges because crews must walk farther repeatedly, extending move time. Elevator moves in high-rise buildings generally don’t incur extra charges if elevators are readily available, though we need advance notice to coordinate elevator reservations. These additional charges are clearly disclosed in your written estimate – we evaluate access conditions during the estimate process and account for all factors affecting pricing. There are no surprise charges on moving day for conditions disclosed during the estimate. If access conditions differ significantly from what you described (you said ground floor but it’s actually third floor), we’ll discuss pricing adjustments before proceeding with work.
